With Emoji v13.1, the Unicode Consortium-approved emojis include 217 new emojis. Amongst these, there are some that might have been created to depict our reactions and our state in these trying times. These include a new “face in the cloud” emoji, a “face exhaling” emoji, a “face with spiral eyes” emoji, a “heart on fire” emoji, and a “mending heart” emoji. Although all these emojis do look cute, however, it looks like some of these depict the current state of us, the humans, amidst this year’s chaos around the world....

The bug, found by Google’s Project Zero security researcher Natalie Silvanovich, only affected the Android version of Facebook Messenger. While the bug itself does sound scary, you probably weren’t attacked with it because it needs some special set of circumstances to actually be exploited. For example, both the attacker and the victim would need to have Messenger for Android, plus the victim should also be logged in to Messenger via a web browser....

Ford, by collaborating with gamers from all around the world, has created a virtual supercar dubbed the”Fordzilla P1″. It is essentially designed by the exterior designer of Ford, Arturo Ariño. New Google Efforts for Online Safety in India The Cyberskilling Roadshow will be a multi-city event to provide lakhs of developers and IT and start-up professionals with tools and guidance for developing safer apps. For this, a new foundational cybersecurity curriculum will be incorporated into the annual DevFest. Google has collaborated with MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) in India and several banks like HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and SBI, among others to promote online safety campaigns to create awareness....

As part of the deal, Google will receive 7.1 crore equity shares of Airtel on a preferential basis at Rs 734 per share, aggregating to Rs 5,224.28 crores (~$700 million). Other than this, the software giant will invest an additional $300 million over the next five years to scale up Airtel’s offerings and offer a range of devices to customers through affordability programs. As per Airtel, the partnership with Google will mainly focus on offering affordable smartphones across various price ranges to Indian customers and boost the country’s digital growth....

From the hamburger menu, you need to select ‘Edit the map,’ followed by ‘Missing Road’ to see the new road editor. Google Pay Introduces Targeted Ads in India According to Google, the ad personalization option will bring “more relevant offers and rewards based on [user] activity within Google Pay, including … transaction history”. It will be available in the new version of the Google Pay app, and all users will get to choose whether they would like to turn the option on or off as soon as they upgrade. The ‘feature’ will be available on both Android and iOS starting next week....

In an official blog post, Google says that it will “start automatically enrolling users in 2SV if their accounts are appropriately configured” really soon. 2SV here stands for two-step verification, which is what Google calls its two-factor authentication system. The company didn’t elaborate on what it means by appropriately configured. But we assume if you have an Android phone linked to your Google account or an iPhone with the Google Smart Lock app (Free), then you will easily be able to log into your accounts without your password....
