Satellite Communication Will Come to Android Phones! After SpaceX and T-Mobile announced the “Coverage Above and Beyond” initiative to enable communication everywhere (especially in remote regions and dead zones), Google’s senior vice president of Android, Hiroshi Lockheimer made an exciting announcement. Via a recent tweet, Lockheimer suggested that Google is also working on the initiative and its next Android version, most likely Android 14, will support satellite connectivity. This means you can expect your future Android phone to support satellite connectivity for communication in no-coverage areas....

As per an official Apple Support executive quoted in the report, the company is “working on this and it will be resolved in upcoming days”. When pressed further by the frustrated user, the unidentified Apple employee replied: “… we have been going through the issues which customers are facing … It will be resolved soon.” There’s no word on the update timeline, but it’s likely to happen sooner rather than later....

According to a recent report, Apple lifted its travel restrictions for employees flying to China back in October. Since then, the iPhone-makers are reportedly giving voluntary employees traveling to the Asian country a hefty bonus to bear with the COVID-protection protocols in China. Citing the size and portability issues of computer mice, Apple describes special deployable keys that could be detached from a keyboard to use as a wireless pointing device. According to the patent, these special keys can be integrated into keyboards and users can simply detach them to convert them into a mouse on-demand....

Apple to Allow Contactless Payments via iPhones In a recent report by Bloomberg (paywalled), Gurman cited industry sources with the knowledge about the matter and stated that Apple will soon let small businesses accept payments directly on their iPhones without the need for any extra hardware.
